Moonbug Entertainment has confirmed an expansion of its deal with KT, the telecommunications company and IPTV service provider based in South Korea. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with KT and expand our offerings in the South Korean market, which is a key and relevant hub of great entertainment content for all ages,” YoungAh Park, Commercial Director, Korea at Moonbug Entertainment said. “We look forward to working closely with our KT partners to bring more of our most beloved IPs to an even wider international audience.”
The agreement will increase the number of Moonbug IPs available on KT’s IPTV platform Genie TV, including new episodes of "Little Ange"l and the addition of "CoComelon Dance Party," "CoComelon Animal Time," "CoComelon Cody Time," "Odbodds S1," and "Minibods." All content will be shown in English and Korean and is set to launch on 18 August, 2023.
This agreement strengthens Moonbug’s existing deal with KT, which was formed in 2020, when KT premiered CoComelon on the IPTV platform. Last year, KT announced that CoComelon was the most-viewed program for children on KT’s Genie TV in 2022 while Little Angel ranked #3 on the platform, making it a natural progression to expand Moonbug’s programming on the platform.
Moonbug is a next generation global kids entertainment company, which has built its portfolio of properties through the acquisition of popular kids’ IP that was originally born in the digital space. Moonbug believes every child should have access to entertaining and enriching content and makes it a priority to ensure that its content is as accessible as possible worldwide. This distribution agreement will strengthen Moonbug’s presence in the South Korean market, expanding audience reach to support its retail programs in APAC. To date, the company has partnered with best-in-class licensees covering a range of categories including toys, FMCG, apparel, publishing, party goods, and home products, and its retail program continues to grow.
“Both 'CoComelon' and 'Little Angel 'have emerged as the foremost contributors to children's English language learning and enjoyment within KidsLand, Genie TV’s service for children,” Won Kyung Baek, Manager at KT’s Kids Services team said. “One of the most anticipated titles of the year at KidsLand is this upcoming launch of CoComelon Dance Party, along with Animal Time, Oddbods and the new release from Little Angel.”
