Banijay confirmed the return of global cookery hit “MasterChef” to Portugal’s RTP1, following a two-year hiatus, and the pickup of “Celebrity MasterChef Australia” by 10 and 10 Play On Demand, after twelve years off-air.

Produced by Banijay’s Shine Iberia, “MasterChef Portugal” has started casting for the new season, which will launch on RTP1 later this year, having last aired there in 2019. Whilst Endemol Shine Australia, building on the success of “MasterChef Australia” (season 13), which is currently on-air, will produce an all-new celebrity version for 10.

“The global success of ‘MasterChef’ is unparalleled, and the format consistently delivers innovation, creativity, culinary excellence and entertainment. The return of the series in Portugal, and the celebrity spin-off in Australia is testament to the continued evolution of the brand and ever-increasing appetite for the format,”  said Lucas Green, Global Head of Content Operations at Banijay.

“MasterChef” is the world’s most successful cookery television format, produced across 62 markets and with over 10,000 episodes aired to-date. Created by Franc Roddam, “MasterChef” is a superbrand known and enjoyed around the world. Argentina’s first-ever season of “Celebrity MasterChef” launched in 2020 and became the country’s most watched show of the year, with an average share of 76.3%, whilst in the UK, the show has reigned as the BBC’s number one cookery show since 2017.
