NEM opens applications for the "NEM Awards 2024"

The competition is organized in three key categories, depending on different stages of project development, and the winners will be announced during NEM Zagreb 2024.

NEM Awards 2024 will again bring projects to life by presenting them to key industry leaders and key audiences. The award ceremony will be held during NEM Zagreb 2024, which will take place from 4 to 6 December 2024 at Esplanade Zagreb Hotel. Applications are now open and are free for participants from CEE.

The competition is organized in three key categories, depending on different stages of project development. Winners from each stage will be chosen by an independent jury of top-tier industry experts.

CATEGORIES
1. Best Pre-development Project Award is for creative individuals who have an idea for a TV script, regardless of their experience. Several TV formats are eligible for submission in the subcategories of Scripted series, Scripted feature-length film, Documentary series/Feature-length film and Entertainment format and the deadline for applications is until 10 October 2024.

The winner will be supported with 5.000€ worth of market exchange opportunities, whereas the second runner-up will be granted the same in the amount of 2.500€ and the third runner-up in the amount of 1.000€. Market exchange includes various networking and exhibiting/presenting options all organized by Mediavision with partner events such as Heart of Europe, Conecta, MIPCOM, Series Mania, etc., Furthermore, all finalists will have an opportunity for a public 7-minute pitch of the submitted projects at NEM Zagreb 2024, a free participation in online pitching workshops and individual script surgery sessions.

Alba Pérez, Programme Coordinator, INSIDE CONTENT also commented on the collaboration between the two markets: “The partnership between Conecta FICTION & ENTERTAINMENT (June 18-21 Toledo, Spain) and NEM Zagreb 2024 facilitates cross-border collaboration, enhancing the potential scope and funding for projects from two Mediterranean countries. This alliance empowers audiovisual productions to explore new avenues for financial support, significantly increasing their chances of success. Notably, two NEM Zagreb projects, 'Playing with Scissors' (scripted) and 'Eat a Book' (unscripted), have been selected for Conecta 2024, underscoring the efficacy of this transnational partnership in strengthening the industry.”

2. The Council of Europe Series Co-production Development Award is intended to foster creative collaborations in series co-production and empower independent producers in turning their international drama, documentary, or animation series dreams into reality. The award forms part of the Pilot Programme for Series Co-productions, an initiative of the Council of Europe, home of Eurimages. The main prize is 50.000€ non-reimbursable and the deadline for applications is until 17 October 2024.

3. Best Finished Project in the CEE Award will honor the best drama TV series in the CEE. It is a prestigious acknowledgment of excellence, celebrating fully realized and completed works in TV series originating from Central and Eastern Europe. The deadline for applications is until 24 October 2024.

Winners from each stage will be chosen by an independent jury of top-tier industry experts. The NEM Awards are an opportunity for scriptwriters and content creators, industry-related students, producers, broadcasters, production companies, talent, and other TV industry professionals coming from the CEE region, Europe, and the rest of the world.
