COMCAST NAMES DANA STRONG AS CEO OF SKY GROUP

Comcast Cable executive Dana Strong is set to succeed Jeremy Darroch as CEO of Sky Group in what is a major restructure at the European pay-TV operator. She will succeed Jeremy Darroch as he moves from his current role to become Executive Chairman of Sky. “Sky’s values have been a perfect fit for ours and I credit Jeremy with building an incredible culture and executing the seamless integration with Comcast," said Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian L. Roberts. "He and his team have established a world-class brand and a strong, well-run business that will continue to flourish.”

The executive restructuring at Sky comes just a month after the company revealed that long-serving executive Gary Davey, currently CEO of Sky Studios, is stepping down later this year, with plans to retire. A 13-year veteran of Sky, Darroch will stay on as executive chairman through 2021, and will serve as an advisor to the company thereafter. “It has been a privilege to lead Sky for 13 years, and an experience that I have looked forward to every day, so my decision to leave has not been easy,” Darroch said. “But with the business firmly settled into the wider Comcast Corporation and a strong plan in place, now is the right time.”

Strong is set to report to Roberts. She most recently served as President, Consumer Services for Comcast Cable, which has nearly 33 million customer relationships. In this role, she was responsible for Comcast’s residential business and steered new product and market launches in broadband, video, home security, and mobile.

During Strong's time in her role, she accomplished a record subscriber and broadband growth. “She quickly made her mark on our US business, driving growth and innovation with an unwavering commitment to our customers,"  Roberts said. "Her global experience and vision coupled with her leadership and track record at some of the largest media and telecommunications companies in the world make her the perfect leader for Sky.”
