ViendoMovies, the commercial free channel owned by SomosTV, featuring exclusive movies, originally produced in Spanish, presents on August a programming with various Spanish-American premieres and also - in attention to the fans of good Mexican cinema - a cycle of films dedicated to the well-known actors Cecilia Suárez and Pedro Zurita.
Its premiere strategy is supported by a representation of the most successful movie productions in Spanish-speaking countries and represented in the different communities of the Latino market in the United States and Puerto Rico. Thus, the channel presents monthly a set of contemporary movies and the talent that has impacted this industry.
On August 8, from Argentina the channel presents "Las Grietas de Jara", with the great actors Oscar Martínez and Joaquín Furriel. The thriller tells the story of Leonor (Soledad Villamil) who arrives at an architecture studio looking for Nelson Jara (Martínez). Supposedly, nobody knows where he is, including Pablo Simó (Furriel), the studio’s oldest architect. Everybody is lying, but the truth will emerge thanks to Simó’s memories.
On August 16, "La Región Salvaje" (Mexico) premieres. The movie was nominated at the Venice and Havana Festivals, as well as the Ariel and Phoenix Awards. The film conveys a powerful image of the social realism and the science fiction. This is the story of Alejandra and Ángel, a couple who lives in a small city in Mexico; their country lifestyle is altered with the arrival of Verónica. Sex and love are fragile in this region where taboos still exist. Veronica convinces them that in an isolated cabin there is something mysterious that is the answer to all their problems.
"La Familia" premieres on the 22nd. The Venezuelan film was winner of the Miami Film Festival 2018 and the Latin American Festival of Lima; and nominated for the Platinum, Mar de Plata, Cannes, San Sebastián Awards, among others. Andrés and his 12-year-old son Pedro live in a marginal area of Caracas and barely see each other in their day to day, until adversity forces them to undertake a new journey where they will learn about coexistence.
On Saturday 29 the month closes with "Vitoria 3 de Marzo" (Spain), a feature film based on real events that will transport viewers to the 1970s’ massacre that occurred in the Zaramaga neighborhood.
Other premieres to highlight are "A Punto de Llegar" (Puerto Rico) and "Aquí y Ahora" (Costa Rica). Together with the big premieres, ViendoMovies presents on Sundays at 9pm EST a movie cycle dedicated to the well-known actors Cecilia Suárez and Pedro Zurita.
