"MasterChef India Tamil"
Banijay announced a four-season commission of “MasterChef” in India. All four seasons will be produced by Endemol Shine India for Innovative Film Academy (IFA), and will air on the Sun Network. “MasterChef India Tamil,” “MasterChef India Telugu,” “MasterChef India Malayalam,” and “MasterChef India Kannada” will all launch later this year.
Hugely successful actor Vijay Sethupathi will host the Tamil version. Presenting “MasterChef India Telugu” will be well-known actor Tamannaah Bhatia. Taking the reins for “MasterChef India Malayalam” will be hugely popular Prithviraj Sukumaran; and host and actor Kichcha Sudeep will front “MasterChef Kannada”. All four iterations will be filmed on-set in Bangalore, and each version will be adapted for the unique and individual cultures, food and craft of their state.
“‘MasterChef’ has set unprecedented benchmarks globally, and we can confidently say that the show’s regional adaptations have surpassed the benchmark in terms of production quality, content and the contestants. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with IFA to bring ‘MasterChef’ in not just one but four regional languages. We are confident that these four seasons will be instant hits amongst millions of households,” said Abhishek Rege, CEO at Endemol Shine India.
Lucas Green, Global Head of Content Operations at Banijay, added: “The appeal of ‘MasterChef’ extends globally and its adaptability as a format allows us to celebrate unique gastronomic excellence not just from country to country, but throughout different regions. As a group, we are able to utilise our world-class local production expertise to deliver four culturally-relevant brilliant new series, while uncovering some of the best home cooks the nation has to offer”.
