Geophil, the global co-production and distribution studio based in Dubai and headed up by Managing Director Robin Philip, announced the acquisition of multiple Turkish historical drama series for distribution in Pakistan from TRT, Türkiye’s national public broadcaster.

The historical drama series in the agreement include TRT’s 2024 mega hit series “FATIH: Sultans of Conquest,” which brings to life the story of Fatih Sultan Mehmed, an important ruler in Ottoman history, and his epic conquests. It stars Serkan Çayoglu in the title role, as well as Selim Bayraktar, Tuba Ünsal, and Kenan Çoban. Other titles include “Haci Beyram Veli,” “Mavera,” “Victorius Mehmets,” and “Filinta.” Geophil’s reach into the Turkish content landscape has exponentially increased over the last year, with plans to reach further into the pan-Asian market.

On the co-production side, Geophil maintains joint venture GlobalSphere alongside Turkish media company MediaHub, focusing on co-producing premium Turkish dramas including the series “Alaca.” Under the GlobalSphere banner, more original Turkish projects are slated to be produced in the coming year, with details to be announced soon. Geophil is actively looking to co-produce projects across Asian markets, especially remakes of globally acclaimed fiction titles.

Robin Philip, Managing Director, Geophil, stated: “At Geophil, we’ve always believed in the potential of Turkish content across Asia. Historicals created by TRT are produced at a very high quality and showcase storylines which are of interest in multiple countries due to the cultural similarities. We’re glad to take these successful TRT historical dramas to Pakistani audiences and plan to further curate successful Turkish content in markets across Asia.”

Mustafa Ilbeyli, Head of Advertisement and Content Sales, TRT, added: “As TRT, we’ve had a successful journey with our content in the region but especially in Pakistan. One of the reasons that audiences respond well to our content is that with anything we do, we strive to stay true to the values that we actually share with the people of Pakistan. With our recent partnership with Geophil, we are confident that more of what we have to offer will find the right audiences across Asia.”
