Serious Kids has secured an acquisition deal with UK children’s channel CBBC for "Girls of Olympus." The title, serving as the latest animated 26-part epic serial from The Animation Band and Rai Ragazzi, will air on the platform in Summer 2022. “We are delighted to close this deal with CBBC. RAI Gulp is currently airing ‘Girls of Olympus’ 3 times a day, where it is rating over twice the channel’s average market share for those time slots," Founder & CEO of Serious Kids, Genevieve Dexter, said.
According to Dexter, the show, based on the books by Elena Kedros and published by Mondadori, received its highest ratings from audiences in the 8-14-year-old age group, with the gender split 60:40 girls to boys. The executive projects a successful debut on CBBC and BBC iPlayer.
‘Girls of Olympus’ tells the story of three girls, Hoon, Luce and Sid, who meet at high school and discover they share the same birthday. Other coincidences and strange happenings bond them together and lead them to discover their supernatural talents and the ability to flip between reality and fantasy worlds.
"With more books to draw inspiration from, we are starting development of a second series to take our heroines to all new levels of fun and adventure.” CEO of The Animation Band, Marco Marcolini, said.
