ZDF Enterprises has sold Ukraine’s first crime noir to broadcasters in North America and Europe. The female-led thriller, "Hide and Seek", produced by FILM.UA Group for ICTV Ukraine and OKKO Russia, has premiered in the US and Canada on GSN. European sales so far include Rai (Italy), FTV Prima (Czech Republic), Bonton Film (the Czech Republic and Slovakia), Canal+ (Poland), ETV (Estonia), LRT (Lithuania) and Lumière (Benelux) as well as German PayTV.
The eight-part crime drama was a finalist at the last MIPDrama Buyers Summit and was showcased at high-profile festivals such as Berlinale, Seriencamp Munich, MIA Rome, Sweden’s Göteborg Festival and Séries Series in Fontainebleau. Robert Franke, Vice-President ZDFE.drama, ZDF Enterprises, said: “ Hide and Seek has all the hallmarks of a quality thriller, an engaging plot, great acting, and clever writing and with crime drama being one of television’s most popular genres, it comes as no surprise that this series has attracted interest across two continents.”
Filmed in over 80 locations in Ukraine, "Hide and Seek" is a story laced with tension and suspense about children mysteriously disappearing from a small industrial town and the two detectives who, battling with their own demons, make this a personal quest to find the kidnapper. "Hide and Seek" marks the first partnership between ZDF Enterprises (global distributor excluding Ukraine, Russia, and CIS), and FILM.UA Group, producers also of the international hit, "The Sniffer".
