Madd Entertainment confirmed plans to bring drama series "Family Secrets" to this year's Mipcom. The series has been sold to Puerto Rico, USA, Georgia, Romania, Macedonia, MENA, Israel, Chile, Cyprus, Greece, Slovenia, Uzbekistan, Argentina, Turner Latam, Honduras, Lithuania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, El Salvador, Spain and Spanish speaking Andorra.
Now in its second season, "Family Secrets" is ranked as one of the Top shows in Turkey and Spain. A local adaptation of the title also earned high ratings in Greece over its first 10 weeks. Readymade and format rights for the project are still available for many territories around the world. "This ratings success of both readymade and adapted formats in Europe continues an incredible run for one of Turkey’s most popular TV dramas, which has already sold to numerous territories across Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East," a recent release states.
The title, directed by Ali Bilgin, was developed from an original story by Sema Ergenekon. launched 9 October on Antena 3, Spain’s leading broadcast network, where it airs under the title Secretos De Familia. The series premiere had almost 2 million viewers, earning a 15.5% share and dominating its time slot. In Greece, the series has been remade under the local title Pagidevmenoi, where it is still going strong after 10 episodes. This week ANT1 TV’s adaptation earned a stunning 20.4% share among the coveted 18-54 cohort.
In "Family Secrets," while she was still in law school, Ceylin’s father was framed for a crime he didn’t commit. There is the law and then there is justice, and ever since her father was sent to prison, Ceylin knows which side she’s on. Ceylin becomes a defense attorney and is known as a brave, dynamic and reckless advocate, respected by her peers but constantly in trouble with prosecutors and the police. Ilgaz is a no-nonsense prosecutor who does everything by the book. His father is the well- respected chief of homicide of the Istanbul Police Department, and it’s from him that Ilgaz gets his incorruptible sense of right and wrong. For him, the law and justice are the same thing. So when Ceylin comes to him looking for back-channel info to help clear a client, Ilgaz throws her out of his office. But after his brother is accused of murder, it’s Ceylin he goes to for help. So begins Ay Yapim’s brand new drama, FAMILY SECRETS, featuring Kaan Urgancıoğlu (Endless Love, Love 101) and Pınar Deniz (Wounded Love, Love 101) as an unlikely duo who find themselves in the middle of a conspiracy that could bring down both their families.
