The Mediapro Studio (TMS) announced that it will present its expansion plans in the United States and Canada, along with its new English-language content, during a keynote at the 40th edition of MIPCOM, on October 23 at 11:15 AM. Part of the annual MIPCOM Cannes Media Mastermind series, the session will take place in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals.
The session will be led by Laura Fernández Espeso, CEO of The Mediapro Studio and the upcoming general director of Grup Mediapro, and JC Acosta, director of The Mediapro Studio US & Canada. They will be joined by various members of the TMS US & Canada management team, including Erika Kennair, head of fiction content, and Pam Healey, head of non-fiction content, as well as other talents and special guests to be announced later.
The Mediapro Studio has strengthened its presence in the English-speaking market with the opening of an office in Los Angeles to work in the US and Canada. JC Acosta was the first to join the team, which later added five more executives. The company, which already has 52 offices worldwide, aims to continue producing English-language content after participating in series and feature films like “The Head,” “The Famous Five,” “The Young Pope,” “The New Pope,” “A Perfect Day,” and “Hard Truths,” which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be featured at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
“The Mediapro Studio is poised to solidify its position as a leading force in the global entertainment industry," said Lucy Smith, Director of MIPCOM Cannes and MIP London. “Their North American push was first flagged on the Cannes stage last year and they are back, in numbers, to unveil the productions driving that ambition and targeting both local and global audiences. We look forward to welcoming Laura back along with the whole team and collaborators for what will be a highly anticipated and revealing session.”
“I would especially like to thank MIPCOM Cannes for providing us the opportunity to debut our latest plans and inaugural slate of exciting projects from the US & Canada, together with JC Acosta and the great team at TMS US & Canada,” added Laura Fernandez Espeso, CEO of TMS. “Last year, I had the honor of participating as keynote speaker and announcing our goal to produce more content in English. Today, that goal has become a reality, and I am proud to return to the same stage to talk about our momentum and progress.”
Spain is the featured country at this edition of MIPCOM Cannes, taking place from October 21 to 24. Among the activities surrounding the Spanish market is the world premiere of RTVE's new fiction series “Ena,” created by Javier Olivares.
