Reed Midem, Mipcom’s organizer, has issued an update on the 2020 edition of the market to exhibitors as it goes ahead with its plans to hold the 36th edition of the Cannes event in October as programmed.

“We are actively working on the organisation of the 36th Mipcom (October 12-15) and 28th MIP Junior (October 10-11). The majority of the exhibition space is booked and clients are continuing to confirm their presence,”  the company said in a mail to clients.

In the statement, Reed Midem assured that they are following French Government and public health guidelines on a daily basis and will continue to do so over the coming weeks and months. “We will take appropriate measures in order to provide the safest business environment possible for both events,”  they indicated.

Furthermore the company confirmed that, as part of the Mipcom and MIP Junior 2020 experience, they will introduce an online service called Mipcom Online+, allowing executives who may not be able to travel to Cannes to join the market. This is a similar approach as the one used for MIPTV, one of the first markets to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In case they find themselves unable to physically hold the event in Cannes, Reed Midem said that they will inform the industry “well in advance”. This clarification refers to the fact that in the case of MIPTV, when the pandemic had just started, the company announced the cancellation of the event just one month before the scheduled date.
