"A Year of Your Life"
Talpa’s reality game show "A Year of Your Life" allowed Dutch channel SBS6 to hold a solid double-digit market share in their access prime-time timeslot. In the first two weeks, the daily episodes scored a 10.3% average market share in the key demo (25-59), 56% above slot average, despite tough competition.
The Talpa Concepts format's, produced by Talpa Entertainment Productions and distributed by Talpa Distribution, scored exeptionally well among young viewers, with an average market share of 12.4% in the 20-34 target group. On demand, "A Year of Your Life" ranks 1 out of 3 among the 18-44 year olds. Videoland has a day-and-date SVOD second window.
On the show, 40 complete strangers are cut off from the outside world for one entire year. Their world becomes very small, yet the reward, should they win, is very big: up to one million euros. All they have to do is stay in the game, until the final day. All basic facilities are available to them at the location.
To provide more for themselves, the participants play games to earn money for the household pot. If the pot is empty, but they still desperately want to buy something, they can take out cash from the one million euro prize pot. However, the majority has to agree, because every euro taken out is multiplied by 25 and deducted from the prize money.
