Executives from Madd Entertainment, Fox Turkey and production house Medyapim presented two new Turkish drama series to the international market at a special NATPE Virtual V-Front. The executives came together at the Fox studios in Istanbul along with lead actors from “The Teacher” and “Nehir,” and the interactive event was joined by over 400 broadcasters, journalists and media professionals from all over the world.

“The Teacher” and “Nehir” currently air in Turkey on Fox TV, and last night’s event presented a one-of-a-kind opportunity to keep up with the cutting edge of Turkish drama. Medyapim is one of Turkey’s most successful production houses, with a string of successful adaptations including international sensations “Mother,” “My Little Girl” and “A Miracle”.

Ateş İnce, Managing Director at Madd, opened the proceedings by noting that Turkey’s TV community is largely back to work after the Covid-19 hiatus. While the virus led to many markets being cancelled or postponed, he said: “Digital events like this one are a silver lining, as we have been forced to figure out new ways to engage with our clients and media professionals. MaddNext is proven to be a very good example for this”.

Fatih Aksoy, President of Medyapim, presented his new series along with The Walt Disney Company Media Deputy GM, Mehmet İçağasıoğlu, from Fox TV, and İnce, who helped explain the programs’ demographics and early ratings success. They talked about the importance of being bold in programming, and gave Medyapim much of the credit for his network’s rise to the number one spot in the ratings. “Our goal at Fox TV is to be the boldest storyteller in the region. To do that you have to take risks,”  İçağasıoğlu said.

Joining the executives were series stars Ilker Kaleli, Ceren Moray, and Afra Saraçoğlu from “The Teacher,” and Feyyaz Duman, Burak Yörük, and Biran Damla Yılmaz from “Nehir”. The event was hosted by Richard Middleton, Managing Editor of TBI.

At the conclusion of the event, Medyapim’s President was joined onstage by child star Baren Gökyıldız. Together they announced for the first time Gökyıldız’s new project, “The Abandoned,” which just started production and will air on Fox TV this October. The new show, adapted from a Japanese series, promises to continue Medyapim’s drive toward bold, innovative storytelling.

This event was the first in a bi-annual series planned by Madd Entertainment utilizing the NATPE Virtual V-Front platform. This series, called maddnext, will allow media professionals from all over the world to keep current with the very latest developments in Turkish drama.
