SBS6 has recommissioned the house hunting show with a twist: "Kids buy a house", produced by Skyhigh TV (Mediawan) and distributed by Talpa Distribution.

With an average market share of 12% in the key demo the show scored 35% above channel average in the Netherlands and ran a rock solid first season, despite some fierce competition.

What can you do when parents who plan to move but struggle to get their kids on board? Right. You let the kids buy the house! Whatever their reason is – moving away from their friends or giving up their old room – the kids on "Kids buy a house" just don't want to move! To resolve the issue, parents put their kids in charge of buying a new house for the whole family.

In each episode, the kids - together with the host and a real estate agent - go on a tour to look at three different houses without their parents. The houses must comply with the parents’ budget and meet the appropriate building acquirements. When decided, the kids make an offer, with the help of the estate agent. When the offer is accepted, the parents have to sign the contract - unread. Then they will visit the three houses as well. Finally, the parents are blindfolded as the host takes them to the house their children just bought.
