Bristol-based Natural History production company Wildstar Films has announced that multi-award-winning editor Nigel Buck has joined its team in the newly created role of Executive Editor as the fast-growing company builds on multiple commissions. The hire recognizes Nigel’s skills as not just an editor but as an exceptional creative talent and filmmaker.

Nigel has edited numerous critically acclaimed documentaries and dramas for theatrical release, streamers, and broadcasters such as Disney+, BBC, Netflix, National Geographic, ITV, Channel 4, and Discovery Channel. His natural history credits include "America the Beautiful," "Our Planet," "Blue Planet 2," "Planet Earth 2," "The Hunt," "Frozen Planet 1&2," "Life Story," "Life and Disneynature’s Elephant," alongside documentaries and dramas such as "Last Flight to Kuwait," "The Great Escape," "Moonshot - The spirit of '69," and "A World in Arms." Nigel has won and been nominated for multiple awards, including BAFTA, RTS, Grierson, Jackson Hole, and Wildscreen Pandas. He recently won an outstanding editing award from the Hollywood Professional Association.

Nigel’s appointment as Executive Editor follows the recent hire of Doug Mackay-Hope as SVP Development and Production, as Wildstar rapidly expands its slate – with recent series launches including America the Beautiful and Epic Adventures with Bertie Gregory for Disney+ and National Geographic, and America’s National Parks for National Geographic. The company is currently in production on two feature-length films for Disney Studios and multiple premium wildlife series for Disney+ and National Geographic Channel, including Sentient, in partnership with Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures, alongside further series in partnership with high-profile Hollywood talent.

Nigel will also be identifying and developing under-represented female editing talent, continuing the role he has begun for Wildstar’s Queens series; and providing ongoing training to editors and edit producers from diverse backgrounds as part of the company’s commitment to diversifying the talent pool within blue chip factual production. “Wildstar is committed to attracting the best talent to the company to deliver the highest quality, exciting and original content for our commissioners, so we are thrilled to have such experienced, creative forces as Doug and Nigel join the team,” Vanessa Berlowitz and Mark Linfield, co-Founders of Wildstar Films said.

Nigel Buck added: “Wildstar is one of the most exciting indies around. Their approach to people, production, and the planet immediately clicked with me. I’m excited to be joining the team in a unique role, bringing all I know to their roster of high-profile, groundbreaking shows.”
