Univision outperforms top free TV networks in the USA

The network finished on the tops of the ranks against ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW, recording double-digit growth from similar periods in previous years by 25% to 1.6 million for all viewers.

This week, Univision finished as the number one broadcasting network, surpassing various competitors, including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and The CW, during weeknight primetime among primary adult audiences. The network experienced significant, double-digit growth from similar periods in previous years by 25% to 1.6 million for all viewers over the age of 2,49% for viewers between the ages 18-49, and 46% to 245,000 for adults between the ages of 18 and 34. The channel has also maintained its spot across all seventeen weeks of the current 2021/2022 season thus far, with double-to-triple digit audience advantages over Telemundo this past week, at a 74% advantage. 

One of the shows contributing to the growth includes “La Rosa de Guadalupe." Debuting at 8 PM on weekdays, the soap opera delivered 1.7 million views, driving the network to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with double-to-triple audience advantages over Telemundo in the weeknight 8 p.m. hour, at a 51% total advantage. “Vencer el Pasado,” which airs at 9 PM, averaged its highest-rated weekly performance with 1.9 million total viewers. The title outperformed Telemundo’s “Hercai: Amor y Venganza II” with double-to-triple digit audience advantages. Similarly, "Madie" attracted 1.7 million total viewers. 

“Madre” attracted 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+, 698,000 Adults 18-49, and 262,000 Adults 18-34 during its premiere week, making Univision the No. 1 broadcast network ahead of ABC, CBS, and NBC with Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The title also delivered more Total Viewers 2+ (+43%), Adults 18-49 (+74%) and Adults 18-34 (+115%) to the network’s weeknight 10 p.m. hour from the comparable week last year while also doubling the audience levels of Telemundo’s “Malverde: El Santo Patron” across all three demographics.

On Saturday night, Univision finished ahead of ABC and FOX among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 with live coverage of Liga MX. The back-to-back soccer matchups of Tigres UANL vs. Puebla and Cruz Azul vs. FC Juarez delivered an average audience of 697,000 total viewers. The sports event drew in more Total Viewers 2+ (+20%), Adults 18-49 (+21%) and Adults 18-34 (+8%) to the network’s 8:00 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. time slot from the comparable Saturday last year while also ranked among the top 10 most-watched programs on all of television on Saturday night with the key 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 demographics.

Sunday night’s second airing of the third installment of “¿Quién Es la Máscara?” attracted 1.5 million total viewers, bringing in more than half of its previously recorded figures from last season. The airing also drove Univision to the top of the Spanish-language television list for the third consecutive Sunday night, with tripled the audience levels of Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49, and Adults 18-34.
