The Culinary Zinema Section of the 72nd San Sebastian Film Festival will host the World Premiere of "Mugaritz. No bread no dessert", directed by Paco Plaza. The original Movistar Plus+ documentary film in collaboration with Fonte Films will open the prestigious gastronomic cycle of the Zinemaldia on September 23, a section that brings together cinema and gastronomy.
The proposal by Paco Plaza, director of "Verónica" (Selected in the Made in Spain Section in 2017) and "La abuela" (Official Selection 2021), goes beyond gastronomy. The spectator will become an exceptional witness to the reinvention process that takes place in Andoni Luis Aduriz's restaurant, one of the most creative and influential chefs on the international scene.
The Mugaritz team works behind closed doors to design a gastronomic proposal in which there is no room for ‘great successes’ from the past. Each season is an unpredictable leap into the void. A path full of questions that, with luck, are answered at the opening of the restaurant each season with the aim of challenging curious diners who take up the challenge.
For Paco Plaza: "It is impossible to think of a more favorable and coherent setting to show our work on Mugaritz than the Zinemaldia; both are rooted in the Basque Country so that their branches reach as far as possible. I am very happy that the people of San Sebastian will be the first to enjoy our tribute to this restaurant, which is much more than just a place where food is served," he stated.
